Moving hosts.
Posted on August 21st, 2008 by Shannon in Site

Over the next week or so I will be moving barnesfan.com to a new host. For you, this only means that the site may be down for a short time. I promise I will do everything as fast as I can, so we can get back to enjoying Ben.

Once the move is complete, we will be updating regularly again.

Again, I’m sorry for the lack of updates while I searched for a new host. Thank you all for being so patient and supportive.

STEPHAN Elliott, director of The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, is back on the scene after a long hiatus. His adaptation of the Noel Coward play Easy Virtue will have its premiere at the Toronto Film Festival before a possible run at the London Film Festival and its commercial release. The film, with an eclectic cast including Jessica Biel, Kristin Scott Thomas, Colin Firth and The Chronicles of Narnia’s Ben Barnes, was made in London, with the resurgent Ealing Studios among its producers. It has been picked up for Australian distribution through Hopscotch although the release date is not set. After bursting on to the scene with Frauds, which premiered at Cannes, then Priscilla and the shall we say ambitious Welcome to Woop Woop, Elliott’s 1999 thriller, Eye of the Beholder, made some money before Elliott seemed to disappear from screens. His return is keenly anticipated.

Colin Firth signs on to ‘Dorian Gray’

Colin Firth has signed on to star opposite Ben Barnes in “Dorian Gray,” the retelling of the Oscar Wilde classic being directed by Oliver Parker.

Based on “The Picture of Dorian Gray,” the story centers on Gray (Barnes), a young man who becomes the subject of a painting. As the man descends into a hedonistic lifestyle, the portrait begins to age and morph, but he doesn’t.

Firth will play Lord Henry Wotton, the aristocrat who corrupts Gray with his worldview. (He is sometimes called Harry in the novel.)

Ealing Studios is behind the adaptation, which is being produced by Barnaby Thompson. At May’s Festival de Cannes, Thompson said Parker plans to make a visceral, dark horror story and said the themes of stardom are as relevant as ever.

The movie began shooting this week.

Posted on July 28th, 2008 by Shannon in Site

I have a ton of photos to upload to the gallery. Unfortunately I cannot add any of it at the moment. We will be moving hosts soon, and as soon as the switch is finished everything will be back to normal around here. The gallery will have a huge update as will the interviews and articles page.

Thank you for being patient!
